Our rights are natural; they exist by virtue of being human. Rights don’t come from governments but are “endowed by our Creator” (as the Declaration of Independence phrases it) or simply from human nature itself. Governments exist to secure those rights, not to grant them.

For example, we are born with a body. The government didn't grant us a body. However, people can take away our bodies or damage them. Our rights are not granted by anyone , they can only be taken away.
