Trump Unveils Pfizer Plan to Lower Drug Prices and Pfizer responds to tariff threats...
“The United States has just 4% of the world’s population and consumes only 13% of all prescription drugs, yet pharmaceutical companies make 75% of their profits from the United States,” Trump said. “Think of that. We have 4% of the market, 13% of prescription drugs, and yet we pay 75% of the cost — Albert, I didn’t know you were that vile!”
The company agreed to voluntarily implement measures to sell its medications at a lower price. The first step is to offer its current suite of products to Medicaid patients at the lowest price offered in other advanced economies. Pfizer also vowed to lower prices on new drugs for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
TrumpRX.com, the direct-to-consumer drug platform launched by the administration. Pfizer will list its drugs, primarily those used for primary care, at discounted prices. The federal government will operate the website.
Pfizer also has committed to investing $70 billion in reshoring domestic drug manufacturing and research facilities, joining the growing list of other industry players that are hopping on the US manufacturing bandwagon. In exchange, it will receive a three-year grace period from the president’s 100% tariffs on any branded or patented pharmaceutical product, which are set to take effect on Oct. 1.

You always hear about the crazy prices of some drugs, I got to experience that first hand here recently.
I get 4 infusions a year. The drug has been vendor supplied. The hospital made a mistake and billed my insurance, we about choked when we saw the price of the drug, $48,000 a pop plus $4k for the infusion. (This drug has been on the market over 25 years) That was all cleared up and we ended up paying less than a thousand dollars.
Genentech will supply the drug if your income is less then $140k so that worked for this year. Unfortunately, they lowered the cap to $100k so we don't qualify going forward. I'm due for two more rounds at the end of the year, not sure how that will pan out.
Another crazy drug price. I stopped into a clinic in August to get some routine labs drawn. Three days later the Colorado health department called and said I had been exposed to measles. Someone had just been there that tested positive at the clinic. The County health department said I needed to get an IVIG infusion due to my condition, RA/ILD. That drug price was $28,000.
Just the drug prices totaled $220k this year. I'll be on Medicare next April. It will only take a little over 6 months to eat up every dollar I ever paid into Medicare.
Don't fret, I'm not dead yet but working on it.

I would wager $100K if the central banks jacked up rates to 12% to quell inflation, which would cause housing and stock prices to reset to levels in line with historical norms (which you don’t want to find out where they’re at…but will soon enough), you would also scream bloody hell.
Interesting when other people complain about the wonders of “free market capitalism” (like employers doing away with collective bargaining) you don’t seem to care, but Big Pharma ripping you off with their obscene drug prices has you screaming from the rooftops.
And no offense, but given your current condition, it is probable you require end of life care that will run $80K a year. You’re better off choosing voluntary death than burning thru all your savings and leaving nothing to your heirs just so you can be a potato for another 3-5 yrs.

Don't put me in the grave yet, I still have plenty of time to be a Dick!No one said the current system is perfect, we play the game just like everyone else and so far have gotten off dirt cheap. The next round will be a challenge, having resources definitely helps. Medicare will cover just about everything after that.
My current condition is quite good, the drug is working and doing it's job of reducing inflammation in the lungs. No need for additional oxygen and I have 100% mobility.
There are other drugs available if this one doesn't continue to work which is a possibility.
Long term care won't happen. It will probably be a morphine drip in my own comfortable bed. Hard discussion to have with the wife but what's the point if you don't have quality of life.
As the wife says, you are ok until you aren't!
