No reliable sources confirm that Mike Johnson is homosexual, and any claims of this nature are unsubstantiated rumors spread on social media. These rumors have received attention due to Johnson's long history of making anti-LGBTQ+ remarks and actions in his political career. 
Timeline of the rumors and allegations

• March 2024: Screenshots purporting to show Johnson's profile on the gay dating app Grindr were circulated on TikTok and other social media platforms. Journalists and commentators found these screenshots to be fake.
• Late September 2025: A TikTok user with the handle "@razzledazzlemo" went viral with a video issuing an ultimatum to Johnson. The user claimed to have evidence of a secret Grindr profile and would release it unless Johnson swore in a Democratic Representative-elect.
• September 30, 2025: The TikTok user posted an update claiming the initial video was removed and that the alleged evidence was provided to a trusted investigative journalist.
• Early October 2025: Discussions on social media questioned whether the promised evidence would materialize, with many users and observers concluding that the claims were overhyped and unsubstantiated. As of early October 2025, no verifiable evidence has been made public. 

Johnson's public stance and record on LGBTQ+ issues
The unsubstantiated gay rumors emerged amid public scrutiny of Johnson's strongly anti-LGBTQ+ record, which some critics have labeled as extreme. His record includes: 

• Advocating for criminalizing gay sex: In 2003, as an attorney for the Alliance Defending Freedom, Johnson wrote in defense of criminalizing same-sex relationships.
• Attacking same-sex marriage: In 2004, he wrote that same-sex relationships were "inherently unnatural" and "dangerous," and that legalizing same-sex marriage was a "dark harbinger of chaos" that could lead to legalized pedophilia and bestiality.
• Promoting conversion therapy: In the mid-2000s, Johnson collaborated with Exodus International, an organization that promoted the discredited practice of "conversion therapy".
• Introducing "Don't Say Gay" legislation: In 2022, he sponsored a federal bill that critics dubbed a "Don't Say Gay" bill, which would restrict federally funded institutions from discussing LGBTQ+ topics with young children.
• Spreading homophobic conspiracy theories: In 2023, he promoted a book that contained anti-LGBTQ+ conspiracy theories, and in a podcast episode, he associated with a pastor who claimed monkeypox was a penalty for being gay.
• Blaming homosexuality for the fall of Rome: In a 2008 radio interview, Johnson attributed the fall of the Roman Empire, in part, to "rampant homosexual behavior"
