A while back, I started a thread about the dangers between the social relationships of humans and AI models. Humans thrive on connections. That isn't bad. That is just how evolution wired us. It is in our nature. We give sentimental value to inanimate objects regularly. We save old heirlooms passed down from generations. We save childhood toys, as they give us great memories. Some people even give their car a name. These are just objects. They don't reciprocate anything. It's a one-way relationship. Yet, we still do it. Now what happens when you take an inanimate object that can reciprocate the sentiment? Well, it shouldn't surprise people that humans use Chatgpt, or any AI model, as a companion to talk to. 

I said this would happen. It did. And it is getting worse. We have already heard about the 16 yr old who committed suicide after being encouraged to do so from Chatgpt. I posted a similar example below. Sam Altman wants to change the model so it helps people with mental illness. Ok great. How about he creates a model that completely distances itself from any emotional connection at all? That would encourage people to not use it as an imaginary friend.

That was the start of a dark turn in Raine’s conversations with the chatbot, according to a new lawsuit filed by his family against OpenAI and chief executive Sam Altman.
In April 2025, after months of conversation with ChatGPT and with the bot’s encouragement, the lawsuit alleges, Raine took his own life.

The vast majority of the peons are idiots and don’t understand basic computer science principles. 

A LLM like ChatGPT by definition cannot use deductive reasoning like a human. It merely uses matrices to calculate what is the “optimal” answer to open ended questions. The performance of a LLM depends on how well it discriminates against non-answers (ChYnA right now seems to be beating most US models, which require vast amounts of resources) because you have to weed out 99.9999% of what is out there. 

Sam Altman, Jensen Huang, and other AI evangelists (who are conveniently profiting off this) are just selling people a pipe dream. But it won’t matter in the end when the financial and monetary system implode. Gold going parabolic tells us what is rotting underneath the surface, filled with shiny gold-like objects akin to the Orange Pedo’s ballroom ornaments (which were cheap plastic trinkets bought from Home Depot)

Yes. But there are a lot of lonely people out there. Especially teens who are mentally vulnerable. They don't look at AI through an objective and rational lens. Hell, they will think their world will come to an end if they can't find a date for the prom. AI is good at creating the illusion of a caring entity. Something that people with mental health problems, especially the youth, seek deeply. AI does not distance itself from that. There is no line drawn.

Until parents get a grip and stop relying on games and the interweb to babysit their children, this **** will only get worse...
 
Our 7yo grandson is the classic example...she lets him do anything he wants and he treats everyone like **** when she doesn't. There's no structured sit down meal time at the table...pretty much eats what and when he wants...

here it's gestapo central and he's a model child...same at school...

 he's got mom wrapped around his finger (and she's a teacher whose students get away with nothing)...dad's better, but only when mom is gone...

 I hate to say it, but I can see her becoming a statistic...only child syndrome...
