How many times did we hear that growing up? Let's examine one, out of many, examples of why that comment belongs in the fairy tale box.

H1B Visas. This was initially meant for foreigners to fill specialty jobs, such as programming, software developers, specific robotic applications, etc...It was meant for companies that could not find Americans to fill it, so they needed to seek foreign help. The two main criteria are:
1.  The job must be a specialty. Not some janitor or burger flipper.
2. The companies had to show that they have done everything possible to fill the position with an American.

Well, of course Silicon Valley said yeah whatever. They will just find the loopholes. Which they did. Musk used to us a loophole. He would advertise in the help wanted sections for programmers, or similar jobs, in exceptionally small font and have it placed in the back of the paper where nobody looks. So even though there were millions of qualified American workers, nobody could find a way to apply. That is just one loophole out of many that Silicon Valley uses.

So now we have over 150k Indians coming over working pennies on the dollar. This saves billions for Silicon Valley. In the meantime, we have American kids graduating with STEM degrees who can't find a damn job because the billionaires hired Indian indentured servants.

And of course, if I bring this up, people say "Well, if you don't like the system, then move." Why are Americans so **** stupid?

You reckon that might be why a computer costs $300 instead of $3000?

You really think that is why they want Indians?

I've been an employer for most of my life....I understand exactly how your costs dictate what you charge for a product or service.

Maybe for your company, but that is not how it works for the general market. Companies will price their product at what consumers will pay. Not cost + fair margin. The savings from the labor costs will usually be absorbed by the shareholders, dividends, profit, and CEO bonuses. This is especially true for fortune 500 companies.
