A former 
South Park writer, Toby Morton, purchased the domain names and  in August 2025, months before the official renaming of the arts institution was announced. Morton intends to use the domains for satirical websites as a form of activism.

• Motivation: Morton anticipated that President Trump, after ousting and restacking the Kennedy Center's board with allies and making himself chairman, would eventually add his name to the building. He told the Washington Post he thought, "Yep, that name's going on the building".
• Purpose: Morton is known for buying political domain names to create satirical websites (e.g., nancymace26.com, mtg2026.org) and plans to do the same with these new acquisitions. He stated the sites "will absolutely reflect the absurdity of the moment".
