How do you feel about what Ann said? Bothered? Not bothered?
Personally, I feel sorry for the woman. She looks like she hasn't spent a day not being bitter and miserable in a very long time. It's hard for me to take what she says as anything more than a reflection of the misery she's drowning in.
Is she a ****? Well, yeah, she's pretty nasty to minorities and makes no bones about being a racist, a character trait she thinks has received a bad rap.
It's easier to hate her than to feel sorry for her but then again, a person who makes no effort to consider the feelings of others doesn't get to enjoy a pass on being called a **** now and again.
She's a nativist - they abound in every generation and in every village and shire. My people got rough usage from 'em, and then became nativists themselves, in turn. Locals hold themselves above tourists and new comers in every town in america, and expect to be treated better by others for it. Nativism is a veritable through line in HUMANITY, right back to hunter gatherers calling themselves, "the people" and everyone else "other."
She happens to be a colorful nativist, with a bomb thrower's disposition. Other than that? Nothing to see here, folks...
