I didn't read many of the posts in this wacky thread.

Prepping for a life to do what? Wait out the misery for a generation or so?

The runners (fleeing to a better place) make easy targets for the entrenched.
They're both doing a service to mankind. 
One is making themselves a target, the other taking out the target.

The leftovers in town will be left with a less crowded Thunderdome.
The entrenched in the boondocks can raise more killers.
