Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) - "In the end it didnt pass because were so politicized. There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it." Screw what the people want and screw what's good for the country. The ultimate goal is to make the president appear powerless and weak. Even a Republican senator can admit that. In fairness, Misty, he didn't help himself when he told people to continue to cling to their guns and religion and forced the ACA through. For some reason, this president has been a divider, not a uniter. Granted, it does go both ways, like when McConnell said he wanted to make Obama a one term president, but Obama really needs to reach across the aisle as well. He's our leader and should set the example, not fall prey to partisan politics or engage in them. He's polticized just about everything he's done and Republicans are fighting back. Bush did the same damn thing. That last sentence made me think that maybe it's because of our "microwave" society where everything has to happen now and the entire population seems to have ADD. One news story to the next, get it done now or it's "their" fault. 24/7 news cycle. Maybe too much information coming at you from 9,000 directions isn't really a good thing, especially when everyone has the ability to voice their opinion. On the right side, you've got people spewing garbage, on the left, the same. Maybe we can't help what we've become and this is the new norm. I hope not, but it's a very real possibility.
