In another time—say, one in which Chelsea Clinton was the president's daughter—this would have been a monumental example of naked influence peddling.

Now, it's just another thing we live with, because we are a democratic republic afflicted with Dutch Elm Disease or something.

No, it's not. It's actually easy.

If you take a job as a counselor to the president, and especially if the president is your father, you…get…out…of…the…business. Period.

The only reason that it's "difficult" is that you want to have your wonderful piece of chocolate cake and eat it, too.

Business as usual shouldn't be this usual.
