The AG's job is to defend the law and the Constitution, not to do the president's bidding.
When Obama appointed Yates as Deputy AG, she was asked by several Republican senators if she would be able to say no to Obama if he asked her to carry out an order that she felt was either unlawful, or unconstitutional, and she swore under oath that she would.
And that's what she did, except she did it to the wrong president.
