Boyd graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law.
He served as the communications director for Jeff Sessions when Sessions was serving as a U.S. Senator.
On April 25, 2017, Boyd was nominated by President Donald Trump for the position of Assistant Attorney General.
He was confirmed to this position by the United States Senate on August 3, 2017.
