Unless the state had a felony murder statute, no.

There is always just so much prison space.

I believe in a swift and sure death penalty for undoubtedly guilty and diabolical murderers.

But if a little old white grandma ran over the same three little black  kids on her way to the store, then how many years does grandma serve?

This robber in question intended a strong armed robbery.  That’s a felony.  I’d send him to prison for it no matter how much the girl’s family pleaded.

Involuntary manslaughter is a far more appropriate charge.
