Asked today about the latest school shooting in Florida, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that Congress has not done a very good job of getting the names of people who have mental reasons for not being able to handle a gun, into the FBI files.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he's like 100 years old, but he seems to have forgotten that
he was the lead sponsor of a stand alone bill that passed the Senate one year ago today that would keep the names of people who were adjudicated mentally ill out of the FBI files.
That bill passed both the Senate and the House and was signed into law on February 28th, 2016 by the SCROTUS.
Unlike all the EO's he signed in his first few weeks in office, he signed this bill behind closed doors and with no fanfare.
The WH has admitted that there are pictures of him signing the bill, but after repeated requests by CBS News, they have refused to release them.
Ironic considering that as a new president the BLOTUS loved to take credit for everything he signed with big signing ceremonies.
