Barr's letter said that Mueller’s team drew no conclusions about whether Mr. Trump illegally obstructed justice, but then goes on to say that he and Rod Rosenstein have concluded that the evidence established during Mueller's investigation is not sufficient to show that Trump committed an obstruction of justice offense.
So in 48 hours Barr and Rosenstein reviewed all of the evidence from a two year investigation?
This is the same Bill Barr who wrote a wacky 19 page memo that said that a president cannot commit an obstruction of justice, and the same Rod Rosenstein who wrote a phony letter about the firing of James Comey.
Barr and Rosenstein apparently wrote their summary without the input of Robert Mueller.
So once again, just like the election, the fix is in, the game is rigged, and the deck is stacked in Trump's favor.
I have no desire to engage in any conversations with a bunch of deplorables who will surely be gloating about this, just like they have gloated for two years over a rigged election.
I will however remind them that Barr said the special counsel did not reach a conclusion about whether Trump had obstructed justice in a way in which he could be prosecuted, but that is not the same standard used by Congress.
The House gets to decide what rises to the level of high crimes or misdemeanors.
It does not necessarily have to be a prosecutable offense, and the DOJ does not get to say what an impeacable offense is. Congress does.
