In fact, it was the Obama' administration's fault.
Intelligence officials first wanted to extract him in 2016 after the U.S. government revealed the severity of Russia’s election interference and the media began following up on details about the CIA’s Kremlin sources, but he declined to leave.
It was only after Trump shared classified intel with the Russians, that they had no choice but to extract him.
