How To Steal A Presidential Electionby Elizabeth DrewThe Republicans' plan is that if they can't buy the 2012 election they will steal it.Translated into honest English, Repubs are trying to prevent the customary, widespread Democrat voter fraud. The plan, long in the making and now well into its execution, is to raise great gobs of money—in newly limitless amounts—so that they and their allies could outspend the president's forceTranslated into honest English, thanks to Citizens United that stopped a blatant violation of our Constitutional right to free speech, Repubs will be a lot closer to Democrats in their ability to buy advertising.Funny how liberals never worried about money corrupting elections when Democrats routinely outspent Repubs by 2 or 3 to 1. Now that it's close to a level playing field, listen to them whine. This national effort to tilt the 2012 election is being carried out on the pretext that the country's voting system is under threat from widespread "voter fraud." the fact that no significant fraud has been found doesn't deter the people pursuing this plan. Myths are convenient in politics. Want to fix an election? No problem. Just make up a story that the other side is trying to rig the election—and meanwhile try to rig the election. (Jon Stewart recently concluded a searing segment about the imagined voter fraud by saying: "Next, leashes for leprechauns.")Even partisan Democrat Chris Mathews admitted a few months ago that Democrat voter fraud is very common in Phillie, and that he assumes by extension in all medium to large cities across the country. Is he part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy? Eight states have already passed Voter ID laws—requiring a state-approved document with a photograph in order to register or vote, a form of identification that an estimated 11 percent or over 21 million of American citizens do not possess. That number is utter bulls***, proven by the fact that Dems taking this issue to court couldn't find any significant number of people who lacked ID's. If there truly are millions and millions, why not?Florida 2000 was the poisoned apple of our electoral system. Republicans saw that by manipulating the rules they could –when it comes down to it—steal an election.More partisan bulls***. It was Algor with malice aforethought who planned weeks before to steal this election, by choosing Democrat strongholds, planning "spontaneous" demonstrations of Dem activists, then hoping local officials would find or steal enough votes for him to steal the state.Having covered Watergate and the impeachment of Richard Nixon, and more recently written a biography of Nixon, I believe that the wrongdoing we are seeing in this election is more menacing even than what went on then. Watergate was a struggle over the Constitutional powers and accountability of a president, and, alarmingly, the president and his aides attempted to interfere with the nominating process of the opposition party.Really hilarious, coming from someone who has lied for years in defense of a serial felon/ impeached disgrace/ sociopathic liar/ rapist.
