Not positive, but I think what Mitt wants to do is end the tax payer part of funding abortion. Not yanking tax payer cash for pap smears and cervical cancer screening and mamograms and such. Of course the hard part is keeping the planned parent subsidy and making sure planned parenthood does not contnue using that specific cash for abortions, you know? Misty, the devil is in the details on this one.Last Spring Mitt Romney said, "Planned Parenthood...we're going to get rid of that."Google it.He never said anything about de-funding only the part of PP that provides abortions.Under the Hyde Amendment it is already illegal for PP to use taxpayer money for those services, and Planned Parenthood is subject to routine audits to ensure that law is not being broken. Abortion is a small part of the services that PP provides.Every year they provide affordable contraception for nearly 2.5 million patients, nearly 1 million cervical cancer screenings, 830,000 million breast exams and nearly 4 million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted infections, including a half million HIV tests.
