President-elect Joe Biden announced his intended nominees for top national security positions Monday.
Longtime Biden advisor Antony Blinken is nominated to be secretary of State, and Jake Sullivan, a former top aide to Hillary Clinton and Biden, is chosen to be national security advisor.
Biden said he will nominate Alejandro Mayorkas to lead the Department of Homeland Security, the first immigrant and first Latino to do so, and he will nominate Avril Haines as the first woman to be director of national intelligence.
