Like you said, we have a safety net in this country...you can consider the safety net inadequate but nevertheless, there must be some explanation for why these people do not want to get a job. I actually sided with them on this particular issue - if I had to choose between homelessness (living in my car or whatever) and becoming a debt slave, homelessness sounds like the better option.
