Myopic morons like Eggplant simply have no understanding of how a supermarket works.
I'm familiar with how items are priced, having experience working in one as a kid, and maintaining a friendship with the owner to this day.
The largest supermarkets often have many staple items that they actually either lose money on or break even with.  These are loss leaders, and you'll often find them advertised as a marketing ploy to bring customers in.  Common items like produce, eggs, bacon, and butter are known to be purchased by so many consumers, that a sale price on them (or a regular low price) will generate a flow of more customers.

It's very possible that BV got a reduced price of eggs at his store, and the profit loss on such an item is made up elsewhere on other items.
Naturally, he assumes we'll all succumb to his laughably claimed "expertise" on the subject, and it will inevitably show up when he's attempting to tout the "accomplishments" of the corrupt, senile pedophile who has him licking his *** here on a daily basis.
