I can remember walking into Lowe's to buy a 16' PT 2x12......the price was $77.00, I turned around and walked out.
During this time I decided to build an apartment to rent as a hedge against inflation.
I felt the same way as you did..about not wanting to pay those prices, but as they say "Necessity is the Mother of Invention"
I already had a 1400 square foot HAY LOFT in my barn that I built out of over a hundred 16 foot long 2x6s and I decked ithe whole thing with 5/8" plywood.
It was easy to dismantle being 100% screwed together....plus I salvaged 100 metal joist hangers and buckets of deck screws.
I really enjoyed framing up the apartment with all of that FREE STUFF......

!!
This story has an even happier ending since I ended up renting the apartment out to a couple of youngsters [no doubt Biden voting Libs] who have already paid back 40 percent of my investment.
