You are taking one aspect - a decrease in childhood activity, which I grant plays a role, - and you are pretending it is the only aspect of this issue. Obesity is not the only area wherein America's medical system is failing its citizens (I would remind you of their recent attempt to bully us into being lab rats), and lack of exercise is not the only aspect of the obesity epidemic.
An active teen VS a couch potato would conservatively burn 500 more calories every day.
That's HUGE.
The bonus happens when the physically active teen tends to be much less likely to indulge in self destructive vices.
