I just watched a 2015 documentary The Chocolate Diet I discovered while sifting through on-line local library offerings.
The hoax was revealed long ago but I never really knew how they set it up.
Basically they needed "peer review" for their study results. The
results, not the actual study. That's key.
They had a statistician massage data sets until their needed conclusions could be reached.
Basically they didn't lie, they did do the study, control groups and double-blind protocols, they did weigh people, etc.
They determined the "formula" in getting a study to the public via some people knowledgable in that arena.
Massage data, find some peer to review, get it published, make sure media sees that publication, public embraces it.
9-10 years later people still believe dark chocolate is good for you.

If 4 average people can produce this viral result,
Big Pharma and giant corporations can get away with whatever they want.
