On the morning of the Pearl Harbor attack my Dad was shaving in his Cal Berkeley dorm, listening to the radio.
By the time he wiped off his face and made it to the Alameda AFEES station there was already lines of angry young white boys wrapped around the block eager to get back at the Japs.
Once the war was over, there was a sense of comraderie and respect that existed between those people that followed them through their post war professional lives too.
Times were a little bit different...High School phys ed programs included boxing and a lot of HSs had Rod & Gun Clubs that met before and after school.
At any rate...the COs of WW TWO were used as "HUMAN TESTERS"..so I thought you might get a kick out of hearing that.
I remember well the respect the wwii vets had. I grew up in the world they ran.
