You summed it up fairly well. However, part of the anti-alcohol movement was rooted in anti-immigration. Alcohol consumption and drunkenness was associated with the "trouble-making" Germans, Irish and Italians. I'm not saying any of this is true, just the perception at the time.
I am as anti-NFA as anyone. Coupled with the Hughes Amendment, it is the single-most infringement of the 2nd Amendment.
