The steel that used to go into the average pick up truck frame must have been more dense [forged with more heat and pressure] and with more rust inhibiting metals added to the recipe.
Today we have stories pouring in about modern trucks with completely rusted out frames by the time they are 5 years old.
I suspect the biggest difference is where the steel is coming from...?
Pro Tip.....find any 1970s to 1980s Ford or Chevy truck for $2000 and put $10,000 worth of new, American made parts into it.
