So what’s the fix?
No, we’re not going to convert every school into a Whole Foods pop-up. But how about starting small:
  • Cut out vending machines filled with junk.
  • Introduce real meals with actual nutrition.
  • Educate students/parents on how food affects their brain, not just their weight.
  • Incentivize healthy options by subsidizing them, instead of giving Pop-Tarts front-row access to the cafeteria line.
  • Make parents take responsibility for their kids for once in their miserable disgusting life.

  • Let's Move! Initiative:
This initiative, spearheaded by Michelle Obama, focused on promoting healthy eating habits and physical activity for children and families. School lunches were a central part of this effort, with the goal of improving the nutritional content and appealing to students.
  • Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010:
This legislation, which was a significant achievement of the Let's Move! initiative, set new nutrition standards for school meals, including limits on calories, sodium, and saturated fat. It also allocated $4.5 billion for the implementation of these standards.
  • Improving School Lunch Programs:
The initiative aimed to make school lunches more appealing and nutritious, focusing on fresh produce, lean proteins, and whole grains. It also sought to ensure that all students, including those who rely on free and reduced-price lunch programs, had access to healthy meals.
  • Emphasis on Family Engagement:
The initiative extended beyond the school setting, encouraging families to adopt healthier eating habits and participate in physical activities together. Michelle Obama emphasized the importance of working with families and communities to create a healthier environment for children.
