China doesn't just make lighters and knives anymore. It makes cars. It exports more cars than than the US does by several times. It's neck and neck with europe - and europe's share of the auto market is toiletward bound, as the US has blown up its cheap gas supply. China's share of the car export market is set to explode as its quality continues to climb and europe's production capacity implodes. You wanna talk about a tariff? Try paying three times for energy what you paid three years ago. Give that a whirl. Now THAT is a donkey hoof to the face. We reserve THOSE for our friends.
