The CIA's own investigator general has challenged the notion that Khalid Sheik Mohammed and Abu Zubaydah provided their best information only after harsh treatment. And the FBI contends that they got more information out of detainees without the use of harsh tactics.
They are lying to cover their asses and the asses of others in the CIA.

You really think KSM, one of the most dangerous, radical, dedicated top terrorists, would have cooperated within a short time?

When everyone involved in national security was expecting more devastating attacks quite soon?

The country was in terrible danger, and thanks to Clinton's neglect, we had almost no intell on Al Qaeda.

KSM fed them a pack of lies under waterboarding. He sent them off on a bunch of wild goose chases. That was in the CIA's own internal documents which were what the Senate Report was based on.

Of course he did, but later provided extremely important intelligence, and far more reliably. That's why fighting terrorism is so extremely difficult.

But we'd never have gotten that intell in a timely manner, and likely not at all.
