Many have not heard about Brown, never mind knowing is is an Ivy League school.  Also, some of the family of the founders of brown were involved in slave trading.

Specific Slave Trading: Members of the family directly financed and outfitted slave voyages. Most notably, Nicholas Brown Sr. and John Brown invested in and directed slave-trading ships, such as the Sally in 1764. The 1764 voyage of the Sally resulted in disaster and massive loss of life for the enslaved Africans aboard, a tragedy that has been extensively documented by the university. John Brown remained an active and vocal defender of the trade for decades
