Stephen Colbert announces he’s bouncing and the numbers go UP. Imagine being so chronically unfunny that your absence is the first joke that lands in years. CBS didn’t lose a host... they lost a ratings anchor. Viewers didn’t tune in to say goodbye. The audience returned...like...the hostage situation is over. CBS execs pretending to be sad is the funniest thing he’s ever inspired. They’re already measuring the studio for someone who can tell a joke. The article calls it a “ratings plot twist.” The only twist is that it took this long for people to realize they didn’t actually like the show. Colbert leaves...ratings rise...CBS smiles politely...internet laughs...Colbert fans insist it’s a coincidence...math disagrees. And that’s the whole story. The man walked out… and the audience walked back in

The audience for the current offering - comics unleashed with byron allen - is actually much smaller than colbert's audience. But the show is also much cheaper to produce. CBS went from losing 40 mil in the slot to making 15.

Clobert was funny before he sold his soul - so was jon stewart. It was a painful and cringy thing to watch two fine talents become sold out hacks.

And the comedy gods do not forgive. Neither man can get his mojo back EVER without a character-driven mea culpa. And the character required for either to deliver that is almost certainly unavailable to a sold-out hack.

I mean, never say never. It would be grand to watch either of those **** redeem themselves through public admission of their many lies. But I don't think it's ever going to happen - which means neither boy will ever be funny again.
