Is violence Trump’s hedge against a convention coup?

I have heard several people wonder why Drumpf would hold a rally in a college in Chicago, which is a very unusual place for a Republican rally.
He had to know that the protesters in Chicago were organizing a big protest. It was on social media.
I'll bet he never even intended to show up there, betting on the prospect that when the announcement was made that the rally was cancelled, the crowd who had waited for hours to see him, would go crazy.

This article contends that there is a method to his madness, and that he is purposely ginning up the violence, in order to scare his party enough to stop them from plotting to swipe the Republican nomination away from him.

A lot of pundits have already said that if they try to take the nomination from him at the convention all hell would break loose with his supporters.

I wouldn't put it past Drumpf one bit to do something like this.
He is a con-man of the highest caliber and a master manipulator.
I wouldn't be surprised if he supplied his followers with pitchforks and torches at the convention.
