if you drill for well water... I have a deep well. A person still needs electricity to get it up. If there was a total meltdown of the grid? how would you get water up?

Yes, you would a generator, the necessary equipment, and knowledge along with lots of fuel. Drilling 500 feet down through rock is not easy. If there was a total meltdown of the grid and zero chance of it coming back in the near future... I would find a way to one of two places... Western Montana or Central idaho. Plenty of water, fish, vegetation, and not bitterly cold in the wintertime. Lows of -10 with little wind are manageable where -60 with wind behind it.. is not.
