It would actually be turning a profit right now if it was not required to pre-fund 75 years worth of health benefits in a ten year window, something which no other business or entity has ever been forced to do. The 2006 law was designed to bankrupt the USPS with the goal of privatizing it. No private company is going to deliver mail to rural areas at a loss, like the USPS is required to do. But if you live in a rural area, fear not, Clem is going to pick up your mail and bring it to you. Of course that probably wouldn't be legal. LOL Clem is all for private companies reaping the profits, while we do the work. That sounds like corporate welfare. It being profitable is of little concern to me; it's a vital service, which provides unmatched value; door-to-door for 46 cents. And every nation has a postal service, which businesses rely on, government needs to communicate with citizens and citizens need as a low cost way of sending original documents. Plus it's in the Constitution. Bankrupt it and it still must be a service we provide.
