Zero trust in Missouri gov right now, sales tax would rise 38%  on everything.

The MO sales tax is among the nation's lowest at 4.23. A 38% increase would bring it to 5.84.

Another penny and a half on the sales tax, and no more state income tax?

State income tax is more expensive for the state to collect. Sales tax is ALREADY being collected, so raising it won't cost the state a penny. But ceasing to collect income tax will save the state a lot of money.

Additionally, travelers through and tourists will be paing that sales tax. Having YOUR state funded in part by folks from OTHER states should make you very happy. 

The sales tax requires no privacy loss, no ratting yourself out, no paying a book keeper. You just pay and go. That's my kind of tax:

Cheap to collect, easy to lay on foreigners, not requiring loss of privacy, not incentivising citizens to lie to their government.  You should be thrilled to get rid of the state income tax. It incentivizes criminal lying, it violates your privacy, and it costs your state a ridiculous amount of money while providing relatively little. 

State income tax is bad government. It is inefficient and stupid. Sales taxes are far more efficient.
