And please don't go the whole 'people will want to marry animals' next route. Polygamy. Perhaps a "right" marriage to close relatives or even minors. Almost certainly even more degradation to the hugely important institution of marriage. Quite possibly detrimental effect to children adopted by homosexual couples. Also, a resulting war on religion and traditional values by the full power of the federal government would be the expected and logical result.
