Governor Bob McDonell [R] of Virginia is whining to National Review Online that there has been an inordinate amount of focus by the press on only a few bills in the state legislature. Maybe this is why the press is focused on certain bills:Protesters' arrest reflect poorly on Virginia. As they marched Saturday to a women's rights rally at the state Capitol, energized protesters held signs like "My Body, My Choice" and chanted, "This is what democracy looks like!"Several hours later, that chant took on a tone of despair as black-clad riot police with helmets, shields and body armor formed a human wall in front of the Capitol steps, where peaceful, arm-linking protesters were pried apart, arrested and hauled away in buses.Lest we think Saturday was an aberration, members of the state police SWAT team hid in the bushes around the Executive Mansion during a silent candlelight vigil for women's rights on Feb. 27.This is what Virginia looks like: Over-the-top anti-abortion legislation followed by over-the-top responses to peaceful protests.Do you like what you see?I guess McDonnell thinks he can just haul these protesters away and say "Move on folks, nothing to see here."PROTEST VIDEO Edited by MistyBlue, 06 March 2012 - 12:48 AM.
